Letter from the Executive Director

FARE Idaho Members,
As we prepare for the holiday season, I want to remind our members about our Farm-to-Feast Turkey Program! If you raise or sell turkeys and would like to make them available for public purchase, we’re here to help you promote them. This is a fantastic way to connect customers with locally sourced, high-quality turkeys while supporting our local farmers. If you haven’t yet shared your details, please reach out so we can help spread the word.
And for those looking to buy local, we encourage you to choose from our members' offerings. These turkeys are raised with care right here in Idaho, and purchasing them supports the hardworking farmers in our community.
Finally, don’t forget—the Field to Fork Festival is just around the corner! It’s an exciting celebration of Idaho’s local food scene, and we’d love for you to be involved. Whether you’re interested in sponsoring or participating, now is the perfect time to get involved.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible community and for supporting Idaho’s local food system.
-Tammie

We are so grateful to Dr. Phil Bass for joining The Ranch Podcast with Matt Todd, where they discussed the importance of telling the story—our Idaho ag story, ranch story, and the story of our local ag heritage. We're thankful for Matt and Phil for talking about the important stuff, for talking about FARE Idaho and the work we do here, and for bringing awareness to these vital conversations. P.S. A tour of the University of Idaho’s animal facilities is highly recommended. Thank you, Dr. Bass for taking around Executive Director, Tammie Halcomb! P.S.S Here's the link for Dr. Bass's book!

Give Thanks with Local Flavors
|
Support local farmers this holiday season by choosing a pasture-raised, sustainably grown turkey from Idaho’s own producers! With convenient pickup options and a focus on high-quality, non-GMO, soy-free feed, these local farms have everything you need for a memorable holiday meal.
Looking for a unique and delicious alternative to turkey this holiday season? Consider ostrich from American Ostrich Farms! This lean red meat tastes like beef, is high in iron, low in cholesterol, and is even a great option for those with Alpha Gal Syndrome.

2025 Field to Fork Festival: Exhibitor Registration Now Open for FARE Idaho Members!
|
We were truly honored to attend Elevate Academy's Graphic Arts Presentation last week, where students were asked to choose a local nonprofit to feature in a presentation. One of the students, Jiraiya, chose FARE Idaho, sharing, "I chose this nonprofit organization because they help bring fresh foods straight to local markets and local businesses. The main message of my campaign is to spread awareness for FARE, which aligns with the nonprofit’s mission to advance independent businesses and increase financial success." Jiraiya’s presentation also included creative ideas for a t-shirt and poster to help spread FARE Idaho’s message. It’s incredibly meaningful to see FARE’s work inspiring and impacting the next generation!
